When I was in studio I never shot using dark field lighting and this made me remember why: BECAUSE ITS REALLY HARD.
not super thrilled with how this turned out, but it’s not too terrible and I learned stuff and drank the beer afterwards :) I lit it from beneath a strobe pointing straight up at it, and i cut a little hole in a piece of black cardboard underneath the fiberglass for the light to get through. Then I just used two strip-banks on the sides for the highlights. Doing it this way didn’t really get as much light as I wanted on the front of the glass but when I tried to light it from the front slightly it just made a really gross glare and I was already pretty fed up with trying things at this point haha. Let me know if you have any pointers!
